Common questions
Vacuum truck financing FAQs
What is vacuum truck financing?
Vacuum truck financing is business-purpose capital used to acquire or support a commercial vacuum truck and its related equipment. Depending on the structure, the truck may serve as collateral, and the financing may cover an eligible new or used unit, body system, or approved upfitting. Separate working capital may be considered for deployment costs such as payroll, fuel, disposal fees, insurance, and initial maintenance.
Can I finance a used vacuum truck?
A used vacuum truck may be eligible, subject to the asset, seller, age, mileage, engine and blower hours, condition, value, configuration, inspection, and applicant profile. Gather maintenance records and arrange a qualified inspection of the chassis, tank, vacuum source, hydraulics, pumps, hoses, safety systems, emissions equipment, and signs of corrosion or material damage.
Can funding include a hydro excavator or combination sewer truck?
Potentially. Hydro excavators and combination sewer cleaners are specialized vacuum units, but the exact specification and commercial use matter. Provide a complete vendor quote covering the chassis, debris and water capacities, vacuum system, pressure and heating equipment, boom, filtration, controls, accessories, delivery schedule, and intended contracts or projects.
What documents may be requested?
Requirements vary, but a business may be asked for ownership information, recent bank statements, financial statements, tax returns, a debt schedule, vendor quote, equipment details, purchase agreement, insurance evidence, and information about contracts or recurring revenue. Used assets may require service records, photos, serial numbers, payoff details, valuation, and inspection results.
How should I compare vacuum truck financing offers?
Compare the required down payment, payment amount and frequency, total repayment, fees, term, collateral, personal guarantees, insurance conditions, lien position, prepayment provisions, documentation, and delivery requirements. Then test the payment against conservative utilization, direct operating costs, maintenance reserves, seasonality, downtime, and receivable delays.
Can financing cover repairs and replacement components?
Business funding may be available for eligible repairs or replacements such as a blower, pump, PTO, hydraulic system, boom, tank work, hose system, controls, or chassis service. The appropriate structure depends on cost, urgency, remaining useful life, repair documentation, cash flow, and whether replacing the unit would be more economical.
Does Mulah guarantee approval, rates, or funding time?
No. Approval, amount, pricing, terms, documentation, and timing depend on the business, owners, asset, use of funds, transaction, and available funding options. Submitting information or using a calculator does not create an approval or commitment. Review final documents carefully before accepting any business financing.
What should I budget beyond the truck payment?
Budget for down payment, taxes, delivery, registration, insurance, fuel, DEF where applicable, drivers and operators, disposal and washout fees, hoses and nozzles, filters and lubricants, preventive maintenance, major-component reserves, telematics, PPE, training, yard costs, permits or authorizations, and cash needed while customer invoices remain unpaid.
Can a startup apply for vacuum truck financing?
A startup may explore options, but a limited operating history can make the request more challenging. Relevant industry and management experience, owner investment, credit profile, liquidity, a detailed equipment quote, realistic projections, disposal and operating plans, insurance availability, and credible contracts or customer pipeline may all be important to the review.
